Films of Steam in Britain
These films show life in the days of steam in Britain between 1967 and 1972 - not only on the railways but also in a pumping station. The films feature the last steam operations on British Railways (BR) 1967/68, especially the main line freight services operated by steam in the north west. All these films are featured on the DVD "Britain in the Days of Steam".
Some films feature steam operations on non-BR lines, including colliery lines of the National Coal Board (NCB), the limestone quarry lines of the steel industry and the permanent way trains of London Transport (LT).
All these early movies were shot using amateur Standard 8 mm cameras.
